What we are up to.

Things are staying pretty calm here at Iowa Troop Pantry. We will be sending out approximately 35 boxes (~560 lbs.) to Afghanistan at the end of this month.

We've had some great donations over the last couple of months and we will be posting photos soon.

The month of April sees the end of our Coins for Care Packages 2012 Donation Drive. 12 different locations around the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area participated by having coin donation containers available in stores from January 16th to April 16th. This has helped raise enough postage to send care packages for the months of April and May. We don't have final totals yet, but the winning location will receive the 'Coins for Care Packages' traveling trophy!

Iowa Troop Pantry also continues its mission of public awareness through our blog. We choose news articles that might go unseen to the normal or everyday person and reproduce them for our readers to view. We also write about practical aspects of military service and important days in United States history. We are always looking for more blog post ideas or if one of our readers has something interesting to say, we'd love to have a guest post from time to time.

Let us know what you think, what you'd like to read, or what what you would not like to read in the comments section of this post. It's our job to provide information and support for the Armed Forces and the only way we can do that is if we have some input from our volunteers, readers, and service members.

Stay tuned for more updates from Iowa Troop Pantry and some new ways to get involved in supporting our troops.
